Any attempt to lure Roma forward Edin Dzeko to Stamford Bridge looks to have failed after negotiations broke down between all the parties concerned.
A fee, reportedly around £44 million, was agreed last week between Chelsea and Roma to sign Edin Dzeko and left wing-back, Emerson Palmieri.
Negotiations regarding Dzeko have subsequently failed and he will be staying in Rome.
Dzeko’s move collapsed due to a failure to reach an agreement regarding the length of his contract. Dzeko has a contract until 2021 at the Serie A club and wanted Chelsea to match this. However, Chelsea has a strict policy regarding contracts to players over 30 and refused to agree with the Bosnian.
Emerson Palmieri is set for a medical at the club after a fee and personal terms were agreed with the Brazilian.
Chelsea seemed to have switch attention to Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud with talks ongoing between the two clubs. There is still some hope with two days to go until the window closes.
