Chelsea are close to sealing a deal worth around £44 million to bring in both Emerson Palmieri and Edin Dzeko from Roma, as per multiple reports over the weekend.
The Blues have been negotiating with the Serie A side on Friday and talks had been expected to continue today. Its said that the two clubs are about £10 million off agreeing a fee for the two players, but both are confident a settlement can be reached due to this figure being add ons and not part of the initial fee.
Former Manchester City forward Dzeko however, is concerned that he will be mainly playing second fiddle to Alvaro Morata, and has asked Chelsea for reassurances on game time, this according to the latest report by the reliable Evening Standard.
Sky Italia have also reported this morning that a ‘deal is close’ and that the Bosnian striker is keen on making the move to Chelsea.
Brazilian born Emerson is expected in London today or tomorrow to complete his medical at Stamford Bridge, but the double deal awaits completion due to the above issues at current.
Dzeko is said to be rather miffed that his club are willing to let him go, but Roma are facing issues with financial fair play and need to raise around £40 million, hence their willingness to do a deal with Chelsea.
Its unsure whether Roma will take Michy Batshuayi on loan as part of the deal yet, however he has been offered by Chelsea and could become part of it.
Chelsea have also had loan approaches rejected for a number of other alleged targets including Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Ashley Barnes and Marko Arnautovic. Crystal Palace also have no interest in allowing Christian Beneteke to leave.
