Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will earn more than £200,000 a week when he signs his new contract – more than any other Chelsea player in history.
According to The Sun, Courtois will soon be the highest paid Chelsea player at Stamford Bridge to date, after already having snubbed Real Madrid and is prepared to stay in London.
Chelsea’s number one has been heavily linked with Real Madrid over the past 2-3 years, as the Spanish giants insist on replacing Keylor Navas.
Now, along with Belgium teammate Eden Hazard, he will pen a contract at Chelsea, and become the highest paid goalkeeper in world football.
Courtois said: “It has just turned the new year, so we will wait a few weeks and then sit around the table.
“I’m happy at Chelsea and a deal is close.”
With talk about both Belgians signing a new club, Thibaut Courtois had this to say about his fellow international.
“Do Eden and I encourage each other? Yes. He will say ‘if you sign, I will sign’ and I say the same to him.”
