As Chelsea continue their search for a short-term option to provide reinforcements up top, Christian Benteke is a name that has continued to be linked with the club.
Reputable Journalist Matt Law from The Telegraph has maintained that Antonio Conte is an admirer of Benteke and he’s a player they are interested in signing.
Today The Mail have reported that the blues are now looking to sign the 27-year old on loan for the rest of the season and are set to make a move, should other targets not go their way.
The reports today from The Times suggest that Chelsea are looking at short-term loan signings only, due to the expectation that Manager Antonio Conte will be leaving this summer.
Benteke has plenty of Premier League experience and fits the target man profile that Conte seems to be asking for, but he has continued to struggle with form in recent times and would be a risk.
Crystal Palace are thought to have no interest in allowing their Belgian international to leave on loan, but might consider a permanent deal.
Meanwhile, as the reports grow regarding negotiations for Edin Dzeko, his agent has claimed that the player wants to stay at Roma. Of course we take this one with a pinch of salt, as it could well be a tactical move if any deal should happen
The search continues….
