Chelsea prepare double Roma swoop

Chelsea are preparing a double swoop for Roma striker, Edin Dzeko, alongside left-back Emerson Palmieri.

News that Chelsea were interested in Emerson broke on Wednesday and Sky Sports correspondent, Kaveh Solhekol, broke the news that Chelsea were preparing a move for Edin Dzeko too.

Chelsea are willing to pay €50 million for the Roma duo and are prepared for Michy Batshuayi to leave on loan to the Serie A giants in return. Roma want €15 million more.

Chelsea fans certainly know Dzeko will after he scored twice in the enthralling 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge in October; most notably the goal which put Roma 3-2 up – a goal which flew past Thibaut Courtois. Whilst at Roma, Dzeko has scored 61 goals in 116 appearances in all competitions. Prior to joining Roma in August 2015, Dzeko spent four-and-a-half seasons at Manchester City. In that time, the Bosnian scored 72 times in 189 appearances in all competitions.

Antonio Conte has been searching endlessly for a target man since eighteen months have passed by and Michy Batshuayi hasn’t made the grade. Names such as Richmond Boayke of Red Star Belgrade, and Christian Benteke of Crystal Palace have been linked but rumours have not materialised into transfer bids. Chelsea were most recently linked with West Ham’s, Andy Carroll but the 29-year-old appears to be injured for the duration of the transfer window, making a move off-putting for the Champions.

It now appears that former Manchester City striker, Edin Dzeko, could be the long-sought after Plan B, Antonio Conte desired.
