Reports circulated on Monday evening that Chelsea had restored their interested in Alexis Sanchez, however fresh reports are stating that Manchester United’s deal to sign Alexis Sanchez could include Armenian midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, in what seems to be a player plus cash deal.
Sky Italia reported that United and Alexis have agreed personal terms. The 29-year-old Chilean will be on wages in the region of £350,000 per week and is expected to take the number seven shirt at Old Trafford. This will follow in the footsteps of David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo who donned the famous shirt.
A move is also dependent upon Henrikh Mkhitaryan agreeing terms with the Gunners. Arsenal, reportedly, wanted Anthony Martial to be included in the transfer which was swiftly refuted by United chiefs.
Jose Mourinho also confirmed after their 3-0 win over Stoke that Sanchez is a possibility and the Armenian midfielder could be used as part of the deal.
“Is it possible he’s going to be involved in the deal? It’s possible. It’s also possible he stays.”
Sanchez to United is not yet confirmed and Chelsea are waiting in the wings should it fail to materialise. Chelsea’s eleventh-hour interest resembles their late interest in Romelu Lukaku during the summer, which subsequently failed as he joined the Red Devils.
