Frank Lampard has revealed that Danny Drinkwater’s start at Chelsea has been ‘difficult’ for him since his move in the summer.
The former Leicester midfielder signed with Chelsea in the summer after that thrilling title-winning season which saw him play extraordinary well, rewarding him with an England call up.
Drinkwater has recently struggled with fitness and has battled for a starting place in the team, starting 3 Premier League games, scoring one goal in ten appearances for Chelsea so far.
Speaking to BT Sport on the panel for yesterday’s bore draw at Norwich City in the FA Cup, Lampard had this to say about Danny Drinkwater:
“It’s been a difficult start for him.
“Trying to get into the team like Chelsea… he’s had a great career at Leicester and that’s why they bought him.
“He’s an all-round midfield player. He gives a bit of everything. He makes tackles and has a bit of grit in midfield but also [some] quality.”
Frank Lampard is a big fan of Danny Drinkwater and has backed him to be a superior player for the the Blues.
