Diego Costa was officially unveiled to the Atletico Madrid supporters on Sunday afternoon as his move to the Spanish club is set to go through when the January transfer window opens.
He goes back to his former club after enjoying success in his time at the West London side, winning a two Premier League titles and a League Cup. However towards the end of the first season in which Antonio Conte was in charge of, the pair fell out, and it has led to Costa departing.
But the 29-year-old only had positive words for his former employers as he is set to embark on a new chapter of his career.
Asked what his time was like at the club, the forward joked: “I learned English there.”
He certainly seemed to be in high spirits after finally getting the move back to Atletico.
But he continued to talk about what his time at Chelsea was like and praised everyone who is linked with the club.
“Seriously, the supporters, the people at the club and my teammates helped me a lot.
“Chelsea is a great club and I only have good memories.”
Costa certainly made an impact at his time with Chelsea, and the club will be forever grateful for his services.
